In October 2024, 8 million tonnes of products were shipped through Ukrainian seaports, up 60% compared to the same period in 2023. The Ukrainian sea corridor became the main export channel, with 6.8 million tonnes of cargo passing through it. This was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

Key export indicators

Traditionally, agricultural products and ore accounted for the bulk of cargo traffic:

  • Grain cargo reached 5 million tonnes, up 1.5 million tonnes on last year.
  • Ore cargo showed a significant increase: in October, it totalled 1.4 million tonnes, more than double the result for October 2023.

The Ukrainian sea corridor accounted for 85% of the total traffic in October. In particular, it transported:

  • 4.5 million tonnes of grain cargo;
  • other categories of goods, including steel products and containers.

In 10 months of 2024, the total cargo turnover of Ukrainian seaports was 82.3 million tonnes, almost twice as much as in the same period of 2023(46.1 million tonnes).

The growth of transshipment volumes through ports demonstrates the stable operation of the logistics infrastructure even in times of war. The strong performance also demonstrates the successful use of Ukraine’s maritime corridor to support agricultural exports, which are key to the country’s economy.
