The death toll from a Russian Iskander-M missile in a residential sector of Odesa has reached 10 people, including seven police officers. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force and the Odesa Regional Military Administration on Monday, 18 November.
At 11:57 a.m., the Russian army fired an Iskander-M ballistic missile at Odesa. Ukraine’s air defence shot it down, but the debris fell in the residential sector of the Prymorskyi district, causing significant destruction, deaths and injuries.
Earlier, at 11:45 a.m., air defence forces also destroyed an enemy Orlan-10 drone, which was allegedly conducting a reconnaissance mission before the attack.
The Odesa Regional Military Administration confirmed that he was among the dead:
- Seven police officers;
- One medic;
- Two local residents.
The number of wounded is being clarified, but it is reported that there are many more victims.
The Ukrainian military stressed the cunning of the enemy, who continues to strike densely populated cities, deliberately causing civilian casualties.
“The enemy is insidious and ruthless… Odesa is constantly under the occupiers’ gun. We urge citizens not to ignore the air raid alert and follow the safety rules,” the statement reads.
Videos of the moment the rocket debris fell have already appeared on social media, demonstrating the scale of the tragedy.
The tragedy in Odesa was yet another reminder of the terrorist nature of Russia’s actions, which deliberately commits crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
