The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted draft Resolution No. 12218, which defines the parliament’s budget for 2025. The decision was supported by 240 MPs, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said on his Telegram channel, Time Ukraine Israel reports.
Main expenses
Expenditures of UAH 2.28 million per MP in 2025 are envisaged, distributed as follows:
- UAH 90 thousand – reimbursement of travel costs on the territory of Ukraine;
- UAH 1.59 million – the salary fund of the MP’s consultant assistants;
- UAH 350 thousand – accruals for remuneration of assistant consultants;
- UAH 8 thousand – business trips of assistants to constituencies (for 10 months);
- UAH 2 thousand for the maintenance of premises in the constituencies;
- UAH 237.9 thousand – compensation for renting a house or hotel room;
- UAH 670 – organisation of meetings of the deputy with voters.
Total budget
Funding in the amount of UAH 3.139 billion is envisaged for the Verkhovna Rada’s Secretariat. In particular:
- UAH 1.68 billion – for lawmaking activities, including remuneration of MPs and their assistants;
- UAH 1.36 billion – for organisational, informational and logistical support of the Parliament’s activities.
Separately, UAH 78.29 million was allocated to cover the Council’s activities through the media, including television, radio and support for the Golos Ukrainy newspaper.
Approval of the budget is a standard procedure for planning the Verkhovna Rada’s budget, but this time the draft attracted attention due to the significant expenditures on MPs’ needs. This sparked a discussion in the public and among experts about the effectiveness of the use of budget funds.
