As of 20 November, Ukrainian farmers sowed 98% of the forecasted winter crops, which is 6.14 million hectares. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Results of the sowing campaign
- Winter crops: 5.06 million hectares (98% of the forecast), in particular:
- Winter wheat: 4.4 million hectares (98%);
- Winter barley: 610.5 thou hectares (96%);
- Winter rye: 68.6 thou hectares (97%).
- Winter rape: 1.08 million hectares (96%).
Regional leaders
The largest areas are sown in the following regions:
- Odesa region: 760 thousand hectares;
- Dnipropetrovska: 532 thousand hectares;
- Mykolaivska: 503.1 thousand hectares.
Results by region
Winter grain sowing has been completed in 14 regions, and winter rapeseed in 12 regions. Despite the challenges posed by the war, the Ukrainian agricultural sector has been highly efficient in supporting the sowing campaign. This is critical for the food security of both Ukraine and global markets, as Ukraine remains one of the key suppliers of grains and oilseeds.
