During a phone conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his sincere gratitude to the Polish people for their unwavering solidarity with Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Zelenskyy noted Tusk’s principled position on the Kremlin’s recent aggressive acts, in particular the Russian missile attack, and his efforts to fight for the international isolation of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This is reported by Time Ukraine Israel portal with reference to the Official Telegram of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Continued defence cooperation and support for Ukraine
The two leaders discussed the continuation of strategic defence cooperation between Ukraine and Poland. Tusk said that Poland is preparing to deliver the 45th military aid package to Ukraine and is actively working on the next package, which will include new elements of support for the Ukrainian military.
Poland in the EU and new opportunities for Ukraine
They also discussed Poland’s presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025. Zelenskyy expressed hope for Poland’s support in the process of negotiating the opening of the first cluster of negotiations with the EU, as well as the parallel opening of other important clusters, which would be an important step towards Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union.
Supporting Ukraine in the international arena
The President of Ukraine also thanked Donald Tusk for actively using his international contacts to promote the idea of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and to continue military support for Ukraine. Tusk, in turn, promised to continue supporting Ukraine on all fronts of international politics.
Future plans
At the end of the conversation, the parties agreed to hold a face-to-face meeting between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Poland before the end of the year to discuss further steps in cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations.
Thanks to Poland’s strong diplomatic support, Ukraine receives important resources and political support, which brings our country closer to important victories in the struggle for independence and a European future.
