The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) carried out operations in the Litani River area in Lebanon, marking the first time in more than two decades that Israeli troops have reached this strategic territory. According to the army, the operations were based on accurate intelligence, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The raids destroyed numerous terrorist facilities hidden in the region. The military also reported fighting at close range, as well as the destruction of dozens of launchers and thousands of missiles and rockets.
The IDF added that the operations destroyed weapons caches located in mountainous areas. Operations were also carried out in the Saluki area in southern Lebanon, where the military discovered and confiscated weapons, as well as dozens of rocket launchers ready for use.
These actions of the Israeli army were part of broader measures to combat terrorist threats in southern Lebanon, in particular from Hezbollah, which continues to carry out aggressive actions against Israel.
