Last night, Ukraine was subjected to a massive drone attack by Russia, which launched a record 188 attack drones targeting civilian and critical facilities. Thanks to the coordinated work of the air defence forces, more than 80 drones were successfully destroyed, and more than 90 were lost by the enemy during the attack. This was reported by Time Ukraine Israel, citing Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s telegram channel.
Ternopil was the hardest hit, with the city’s critical infrastructure severely damaged. However, repair crews are already on the ground trying to restore power and help the victims.
The international problem of sanctions: 16,000 foreign components in drones
Each of the drones fired that night consisted of more than 80 foreign components, with a total of more than 16,000 units. These statistics highlight the problem of circumventing international sanctions: Russia continues to obtain banned components using supply chains from other countries. Despite the international community’s efforts to strengthen sanctions, the aggressor country remains able to circumvent trade restrictions.
Address to the international community
Ukraine calls on the world to strengthen control over sanctions policy. The fight against Russian aggression requires not only stopping the supply of drones, but also efforts to expose and stop the schemes through which prohibited components fall into the hands of the enemy.
Everyone who opposes the war must be determined to stop the circumvention of sanctions that allow the aggressor to continue its destructive attacks on Ukrainian territory. Ukraine appeals to its partners to extend sanctions and comprehensively block Russia’s access to strategic resources.
Russia’s large-scale attack demonstrates the critical need to strengthen the sanctions regime and international cooperation. Only by working together can we limit the aggressor’s military capabilities and bring the war to an end.
