The Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Andrii Nebytov, held an important meeting with the heads of operational units in the eastern regions. The meeting focused on topical issues of security, combating criminal activity and countering attempts by Russian special services to destabilise the situation in Ukraine. Nebytov focused on the stability of the crime situation, despite the active military operations. This was reported by Time Ukraine Israel with reference to the website of the National Police of Ukraine.
Strategy at the front: stability in times of war
Andriy Nebytov noted that the National Police, working in the context of war, successfully controls the crime situation in the east of the country. Police officers, who constantly face rocket attacks and targeted strikes by FPV drones, continue their work to solve crimes and save people. At the same time, despite the high risks, law enforcement officers ensure stability, which is critical to maintaining social order during war.
Sabotage and arson on the orders of Russian special services
One of the biggest challenges for law enforcement is Russia’s destabilising activities. Nebytov stressed that the enemy is actively recruiting Ukrainian citizens through telegram channels to carry out sabotage tasks. In particular, Russia is organising arson attacks on military vehicles, railway infrastructure and state-owned enterprises. So far, the police have detained 179 people who took part in arson attacks ordered by Russian special services. The task of the criminal police is to identify the perpetrators as soon as possible and bring them to justice to prevent further crimes.
Combating illicit arms trafficking and leakage abroad
Another important area of the National Police’s work is countering illegal arms trafficking and preventing their smuggling to the European Union. Nebytov stressed that to date, no weapons have been smuggled into the EU, which demonstrates the effectiveness of law enforcement in this area. In the first 10 months of this year, police seized 4,247 firearms, uncovered 137 weapons caches and documented 903 cases of illegal arms trafficking.
Fighting drug crime and dismantling criminal groups
Another priority for the police is to combat drug-related crime. This year, 134 organised criminal groups involved in drug trafficking were dismantled. In addition, 565 members of these groups were detained, and almost 3,000 drugs were seized. The effective actions of the police resulted in the dismantling of 800 drug labs and brothels.
Investigation of war crimes and search for missing persons
In addition, operational units continue to actively investigate war crimes committed by Russia and search for missing persons. This is extremely important work to preserve the truth and bring to justice those who committed heinous crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
The National Police of Ukraine continues to perform its functions effectively even in the most difficult conditions of war. The professional work of police officers in the east of the country is a guarantee of stability and security, as well as an important element in the fight against external aggression and internal crime. Supporting the Security and Defence Forces remains the main task that allows Ukraine to move closer to victory.
