A tragic incident occurred in the village of Malyi Bereznyi, Uzhhorod district, Zakarpattia, which killed three people. The tragedy was caused by a grenade explosion. The police are investigating to establish all the circumstances and the origin of the explosive devices. This was reported by the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing the police of the Zakarpattia region.
How the tragedy happened
On 29 November, at 22:39, the police received a call from a 14-year-old boy, a resident of the village of Malyi Bereznyi. The teenager said that he had found the body of his grandfather in the house, but could not explain clearly what had happened.
An investigative team, forensic laboratory specialists and experts immediately arrived at the scene. Law enforcement officers found the bodies of three people in the house: The boy’s 32-year-old mother, his 55-year-old grandmother and his 70-year-old grandfather.
According to preliminary data, all three victims were drinking alcohol. During the feast, the 32-year-old woman picked up a grenade, which she probably had in her possession, and blew off the safety ring. This caused a powerful explosion that killed everyone in the room.
A dangerous discovery
In addition to the explosion, investigators found three more hidden grenades in the house. All explosive devices were seized for further examination. Law enforcers are establishing how the dangerous items ended up in the house.
Legal qualifications
The police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aggravated murder). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
This tragedy proves once again how dangerous the illicit trafficking of weapons and explosive devices is. The incident highlights the need to strengthen control over their proliferation. Such situations can serve as a warning to society about the responsibility for handling explosive items.
