Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
On Friday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni assured of her full support for Ukraine during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. ANSA reports this with reference to a statement from Meloni’s office.
“Italy provides and will continue to provide 360-degree support to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in order to build a just peace,” the Prime Minister stressed. The leaders discussed upcoming diplomatic initiatives, including the European Council meeting on 19-20 December.
Giorgia Meloni also recalled Italy’s commitment to organise a conference on Ukraine’s recovery to be held in Rome next year.
President Zelenskyy posted on social media platform X that during the conversation, it was agreed to accelerate the transfer of the next, tenth aid package to Ukraine. “We discussed the continuation of military support for Ukraine, in particular the supply of air defence systems and strengthening coordination at the level of European leaders,” he wrote.
This conversation confirms Italy’s continued support for Ukraine, especially in the context of security challenges and the need to strengthen defence capabilities in the face of Russian aggression.
