The funds came from both Ukrainian citizens and businesses, as well as the international community. Among the countries that made contributions are the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong and others. In total, over UAH 18.8 billion in foreign currency equivalent was received.

The NBU opened the special account on 24 February 2022, the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Its funds are used to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and meet defence needs.

Contributions from citizens, businesses, and international partners continue to play a key role in ensuring Ukraine’s defence capability, the NBU said.
