8 December 2024, the 429th day of the Iron Swords war, which Israel is waging against terrorist organisations in Gaza, Judea, Samaria, Lebanon and Syria. The operations have been ongoing since 7 October 2023. According to the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing Newsru.co.il, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are conducting large-scale military operations in several regions.
Chronology of events
00:00-06:00
00:00: The IDF has entered Qalqilya, conducting operations in the Qaraan area. In the Shechem, armed clashes continue in the Balata camp.
02:00: In Gaza, IDF artillery attacked areas near Kamal Aduan hospital (Beit Lahiya) and Jabalia al-Balad.
03:00: IDF aircraft and artillery conducted heavy strikes in Beit Lahiya and Dir al-Balah.
04:00: In southern Lebanon, in Beit Lahiyeh and Dir Sarian, the IDF attacked positions; there are dead and wounded.
05:00: IDF launches airstrikes on al-Qaramah and western Jabaliya in the Gaza Strip.
07:00-12:00
07:00: An intercepted rocket fired from Yemen did not cause any damage. The IDF is on alert in the Golan Heights due to the threat of infiltration from Syria.
08:00: The 98th Division, including the Tzanchanim and commando brigades, is relocated to the border with Syria.
09:00: In Gaza, artillery shells hit targets near Nusairat and Beit Lahiya. Several buildings were destroyed in western Rafah.
10:00: The family of terrorist Amar Razak is informed of the impending demolition of their home in Salfit.
11:00: In Gaza, shelling of Jabalia continues, and fighting continues near Kamal Aduan hospital.
12:00-18:00
12:00: IDF artillery shells the Tayaran and Zeitoun neighbourhoods in Gaza. Three people are killed in Dibbin, Lebanon.
13:00: Explosion in the Al-Mezzeh neighbourhood of Damascus – Syrian opposition media reports an IDF airstrike on an arms depot.
15:00: In Gaza, a park on Umar al-Mukhtar Street is targeted. There are dead and wounded.
18:00-00:00
20:00: IDF intensifies operations in central Gaza. Shelling continues in the Jabaliya area.
22:00: Israeli forces strike a Hizbullah convoy in al-Qusayr, Homs governorate.
23:30: Reports of a successful airstrike in Deraa province. Rebel forces in southern Syria suffered losses.
Results of operations
The IDF continues to operate on several fronts, destroying weapons depots and infrastructure of terrorist groups. The military is actively working to prevent the transfer of sophisticated weapons to anti-Assad forces in Syria and Hezbollah groups in Lebanon.
