Exclusive interview with Donald Trump: radical plans for the first day of the new term

President-elect Donald Trump is interviewed by Kristen Welker on “Meet The Press” on 6 December 2024: NBC News.

Radical solutions from day one

In his first major interview since winning the election, Donald Trump announced plans to make drastic changes from his first day in office. In an exclusive interview with Kristen Welker, moderator of NBC News Meet the Press, he confirmed his intention to start mass deportations of illegal migrants, impose tariffs on imports from the US’s leading trading partners, and pardon those convicted of the attack on the Capitol on 6 January. This is reported by Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing NBC News.

“These people are living in hell,” Trump said, describing the conditions of detention in prisons.

Economic policy: between taxes and social guarantees

During the interview, Trump announced his intention to maintain the tax breaks introduced during his first term, but did not guarantee that the new duties would not affect the spending of American families. “I can’t guarantee anything,” he said.

At the same time, Trump stressed that he would not cut social security and healthcare programmes, particularly for the elderly. “I will not do that,” he assured.

Immigration: an uncompromising approach

Immigration policy will be a key topic of the new term. Trump plans to deport millions of undocumented migrants, including mixed-status families, where some members are in the country legally. “I don’t want to tear families apart, so the only way to keep them together is to send them all back,” he said.

Political responsibility and revenge

Despite the accusations of political persecution, Trump said he would not appoint special prosecutors to investigate Joe Biden or the members of the committee that reviewed the events of 6 January. “I don’t want to go back to the past. Retribution will come through success,” he said.

Social initiatives and internal reforms

Trump expressed his readiness to revise the federal minimum wage, which has been $7.25 per hour since 2009, and confirmed that his children would not hold positions in the new administration. At the same time, he stressed that First Lady Melania Trump would remain a “very elegant and popular” representative of the White House.

Trump has outlined ambitious but controversial plans for his new term, including both radical political moves and significant socio-economic initiatives. His approach is drawing both support from voters and significant criticism from opponents. The coming months will be crucial in determining the political future of the United States.
