Deputy Defence Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Boyev met with ambassadors and representatives of the foreign ministries of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Sweden. The discussion focused on the priorities of military and financial assistance to Ukraine for 2025, the Ministry of Defence reports.
Following the results of cooperation in 2024, the main areas of support for the next year were identified. Boyev thanked the Allies for their assistance and informed the partners about the operational situation at the front and the details of the Victory Plan developed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He focused on the priority needs that are of particular importance for an effective response to Russian aggression in early 2025.
“Comprehensive defence of Ukraine remains our main task, and in addition to stabilising the situation at the front, we need to have a clear understanding of the amount of assistance for 2025. Particularly important areas include strengthening air defence and missile defence, building up reserves and supporting the defence industry,” Boyev said.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the importance of Ukraine’s integration into NATO as an integral part of the country’s security guarantees. The parties discussed the possibility of strengthening sanctions against Russia as part of the 16th package being developed by the European Union, as well as updated information on the participation of the North Korean military in the war against Ukraine.
Boev thanked the countries participating in the EUMAM mission for the successful training of the Ukrainian military and called for further improvement of training formats. He also expressed his gratitude to the countries that have supported the Ukrainian defence industry through direct investment and suggested finding new approaches for the mutually beneficial development of the defence sector.
The Deputy Minister also briefed the partners on the capabilities of domestic producers and called for more active cooperation with partner countries’ companies to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
