The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has named the most problematic products identified in 2024 based on data from the international RAPEX system. This is reported by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The most dangerous goods:
- Toys – contain toxic substances or small parts that can be dangerous for children.
- Electrical and electronic equipment – risk of fire or electric shock.
- Lighting devices do not comply with radiation standards.
Results of the inspections in 2024:
- More than 900 product inspections were carried out.
- Detected:
- 746 thousand units of lamps with undirected radiation that did not meet safety requirements.
- More than 200,000 units of low-voltage products with defects.
Risks:
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection emphasises that products that do not meet the requirements are classified as having a high degree of risk. Products intended for:
- children,
- pregnant women,
- elderly people,
- products containing hazardous chemical or biological substances.
Recommendations for consumers:
- Buy goods only from trusted manufacturers and suppliers.
- In case of detection of dangerous products, contact the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
“The safety of goods is the responsibility of both producers and consumers,” the agency stressed.
