15 December, Velyki Selyshcha village, Rivne region – Following a nighttime shooting in the village of Velyki Selyshcha, Rivne regional police launched an investigation into the attempted premeditated murder of several people. Following a conflict between two groups, a young man from one of the companies opened fire with an automatic weapon, injuring four people.
The crime took place around one in the morning. According to the police press service, during a quarrel that escalated into open aggression, the attacker fired several times at the participants of the opposite side. Four young men sustained gunshot wounds and were immediately hospitalised at the nearest hospital. Doctors assure that there is no threat to their lives.
The police responded promptly to the incident. The offender, who fled the scene after the crime, was detained a few hours later. The issue of his detention in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine is currently being decided.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we do not rule out the possibility of expanding the charges due to the severity of the consequences of this incident,” the police representative said.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Article 15, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted intentional murder of several persons).
Investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the conflict that led to the shooting. All participants in the incident are already giving evidence. As of now, the police are conducting operational and investigative measures to complete the investigation.
