Tuesday, 17 December 2024. Israel continues to conduct hostilities against terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon and Syria as part of the Iron Swords war, which has been ongoing since 7 October 2023. This was reported by Time Ukraine Israel, citing Newsru.co.il.
The Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on military targets in Syria. The IDF controls the southern regions of Lebanon, as well as conducts operations in Judea and Samaria. Fighting continues in the Gaza Strip, where two Israeli soldiers were killed.
Timeline of events on 17 December 2024
- 06:00. The Israeli Navy fired on targets in the Al-Alam and Izbat al-Nada areas in the southern Gaza Strip. They also struck the Tal al-Hawah area, southwest of Gaza City.
- 07:00. A false alarm about a rocket attack was raised in the Netiv a-Asarah area, near the Gaza border. Meanwhile, Israeli army shelling continued in the al-Firdaus area, west of Rafah.
- 08:00. An airstrike was carried out in the Zaytun sector, southeast of Gaza City, causing deaths and injuries.
- 09:00. Lebanese sources report that the Israeli military opened fire in the city of An-Nakoura, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement.
- 11:00. The IDF reported the explosion of Hizbullah ammunition in southern Lebanon, near Yarun. At the same time, it was announced that Reserve Major Moshiko Maxim Rosenwald, a 35-year-old company commander of the 7107th Engineer Battalion of the Nahal Brigade, was killed in the southern Gaza Strip. Another soldier, whose name has not yet been published, was killed with him.
- 12:00. IDF troops destroyed several buildings in al-Mawassi district, west of Rafah city.
- 13:00. In the area of Bait Lahiya, near the Kamal Aduan hospital, the aviation carried out strikes that caused deaths and injuries.
- 00:00. In Gaza City, Israeli planes attacked several targets, including the Bait Lahiya neighbourhood. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out in the area of Kamal Aduan hospital.
- 01:00. The Israeli Air Force strikes the house of the Al-Turk family in the Al-Daraj neighbourhood, in the centre of Gaza City. Numerous casualties are reported.
- 03:00. Israeli army enters Askar camp in Shema and detains a suspected terrorist.
- 04:00. Air strikes on residential buildings in Gaza kill at least ten people.
Actions in Syria and Lebanon
The Israeli Air Force struck weapons depots in the suburbs of Damascus, in particular in the Sayda Zaynab area, causing secondary explosions. They also attacked facilities in Jairudah, northeast of Damascus.
In southern Lebanon, the IDF is destroying Hizbullah’s arsenals, particularly in the Yarun area. Firefights continue in the area of An-Nakoura, which the Lebanese authorities call a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The 438th day of the war was marked by intense fighting on several fronts. Israel continues to strike at the military targets of terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip, Syria and Lebanon. Losses among the military and civilians indicate high tension in the region, which shows no signs of abating.
