On 6 December 2024, Russia, which continues its aggression against Ukraine, intensified the use of North Korean military units in the Kursk region. This was reported by the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing the DIU press service.

After significant losses on the front line, DPRK units are forced to set up additional observation posts to detect Ukrainian attack drones that cause serious damage to the aggressor.

Tactics of the North Korean military

Prior to assault operations, the DPRK military creates small groups of 20-30 soldiers who move to designated areas in small units of 5-6 people. This tactic reduces casualties during the movement, but indicates a high level of danger and fear of Ukrainian troops.

To identify their forces at the front, the North Korean military uses red tape, which serves as an improvised insignia.

Fear of losing the initiative

The massive accumulation of assault groups from the DPRK military in the Kursk region shows that the Kremlin is trying to maintain the pace of the offensive at all costs, even using foreign troops. The involvement of North Korean forces also demonstrates the growing manpower crisis in the Russian army.

Ukraine continues to employ effective tactics, including the use of attack drones, which disrupt the enemy’s plans. This situation once again underscores the weakness and helplessness of Moscow’s allies in the face of innovative approaches by the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces.
