‘Partial agreement will be a stain on the heart of the nation’: relatives of abductees call for a comprehensive solution to the situation

Relatives of the kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October 2023: Word and deed.

Relatives of abductees demand a comprehensive deal

The relatives of those whose loved ones are still held captive by Hamas in Gaza are strongly opposed to any partial agreement. They believe that only a comprehensive approach that includes the release of all hostages will restore justice and the moral image of society. Lena Trupanova, the mother of Sasha Trupanov, one of the abductees, shared her experiences, saying: “The country is protected not by keeping terrorists in prison, because new ones will come, but by solidarity and mutual support.” Her words were a profound call for unity and cohesion in these difficult times. This was reported by the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing issue 12.

Sharon Aloni Konyo: a partial deal is a defeat for everyone

Sharon Aloni Konyo, the wife of David Konyo, one of those still held in Gaza, has been vocal in her position that partial agreements cannot be a solution. She called on the international community to reach a comprehensive agreement that would guarantee the return of all hostages without exception. Sharon emphasised: “A partial deal will leave a deep wound in the community.” She recalled her difficult experiences during her captivity, when she and her husband had to be parents to their daughters without basic living conditions. “I was kidnapped, I was in captivity, we tried to be parents without food and without hope. When I came back, I tried to be strong for my children, but how do I explain to them why their father is still there? I don’t have an answer,” she added.

Unity as the basis of struggle: relatives do not give up

Despite the fact that 100 hostages have already been released, relatives of those still in captivity do not stop fighting. They organise public rallies on the Square of the Abducted, calling for a comprehensive solution to the problem that would guarantee the return of everyone. The relatives believe that only through mutual support and solidarity can justice be achieved and none of the victims be left behind. This is a struggle not only for each individual, but also for the moral and national image of society.
