On the morning of Friday, 20 December, one of the two power lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to the Ukrainian power grid was cut off as a result of another Russian shelling. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

According to the information, power engineers will start work to restore the power line as soon as the security situation allows. Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko confirmed that the repairs will be carried out immediately after the situation stabilises.

At the same time, the ministry reminded that this was not the first case. In November alone, due to Russian shelling, Zaporizhzhia NPP was left on one power line three times, which significantly increased the risks to its safety and the stability of energy supply.

The situation at ZNPP remains tense, as frequent shelling makes it difficult to ensure reliable energy supply for this important facility.
