For the first time, Ukrainian forces conducted a combat operation using only robotic systems. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Details of the operation
The Ukrainian National Guard’s Charter Brigade, which operates in the Kharkiv sector, reported that on 20 December it conducted a ground attack near the village of Liptsi without using infantry.
Dozens of robotic systems were used during the operation, including:
- Ground unmanned aerial vehicles: equipped with machine guns to engage enemy manpower.
- FPV drones: used to remotely set up and clear minefields.
As a result, enemy positions were successfully destroyed, which was a significant technological breakthrough for the Ukrainian military.
ISW assessment
Analysts note that this operation demonstrates Ukraine’s ability to introduce advanced technological innovations to compensate for human resource constraints. This approach is innovative and could have a significant impact on future warfare.
This attack was the first known instance of Ukraine relying entirely on robotic systems, underscoring the desire to transform warfare through technology.
