Ukraine has received another tranche of $1.1 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel. This is the sixth tranche under the joint programme under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
Shmyhal noted that the funds have already been transferred to Ukraine’s accounts and will be used to finance critical budget expenditures. In total, Ukraine has already received $9.8 billion under this programme.
The Prime Minister thanked the IMF for its unwavering support of Ukraine during the full-scale war. The programme is part of a $151.4 billion support package for Ukraine.
This IMF-Ukraine Arrangement helps to maintain fiscal, external, and macrofinancial stability, and promotes economic recovery, improved governance, and strengthened institutions for Ukraine’s long-term growth in the context of its reconstruction and European integration.
On December 20, the IMF Executive Board decided to disburse this tranche based on the results of the sixth review of the program.
