Bill Clinton, 78, former US president, was hospitalised on Monday at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, due to a fever. This was announced by his representative Angel Urena on the X platform (formerly Twitter), AFP reports.
Health status
According to Urena, Clinton is under medical supervision, his morale remains good, and he expresses gratitude for the medical care he has received.
This is not the first time the former leader has been hospitalised. In 2021, he was forced to seek medical treatment for a urinary infection that led to septicaemia. Earlier, in 2004, Clinton underwent four coronary bypass operations, and in 2010, angioplasty.
Political heritage
President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, Clinton was known as a charismatic democrat who won the presidency twice. His reign is associated with the economic prosperity of the United States, but his career was marred by high-profile scandals, including the Monica Lewinsky case.
After his presidential term, Clinton devoted a decade to humanitarian work, working through his foundation and undertaking diplomatic missions. However, in recent years, he has often been overshadowed by his wife, Hillary Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump.
Outlook.
Clinton’s condition continues to be monitored by doctors. The family of the former president has not yet made any official statements.
