Law enforcement officers found a will in the car of Taleb Al Abdulmohsen, a suspect in the terrorist attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg. The document shows that the suspect probably planned to die during the attack. This was reported by Spiegel.

Details of the investigation

The BMW car used by Abdulmohsen to commit the crime had been rented more than a week before the incident. In his will, the suspect expressed a desire to transfer all his property to the German Red Cross after his death. No political statements or ideological slogans were found in the document.

At the same time, a few days before the attack, the suspect publicly expressed accusations against Germany. He claimed that the country was “letting in Islamists from Syria” and “destroying the lives of former Saudi Muslims”. Abdulmohsen also compared the actions of the German police to the persecution during the National Socialist era, accusing law enforcement of an alleged global conspiracy.

Resonance and consequences

The incident caused a wide response in German society. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation, including checking the attacker’s motives and possible links to terrorist groups.

Christmas markets in Germany remain under heightened police surveillance due to the increased risk of terrorist attacks, especially after the tragic events at the Berlin market in 2016.
