On the night of 24 December and during the previous day, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 60 drones, mostly of the Iranian Shahed type. Thanks to the effective work of the air defence forces, almost all the drones were destroyed or neutralised. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Scale of the attack
Drones were launched from Russian territory, in particular from the directions of Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The enemy’s attacks were repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units and mobile fire groups.
“As of 10:00 a.m., 36 Shahed attack drones and other drones were shot down in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Khmelnytskyi regions,” the Armed Forces said.
In addition to the destroyed drones, another 23 enemy drones lost their location link due to active electronic warfare, making them ineffective. According to the military, these drones did not cause any damage to civilian or military infrastructure.
