Azerbaijani plane crash in Kazakhstan kills 38 people, including two crew members

On 25 December, 38 people, including two crew members, died in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny. Three survived. The plane crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, with 67 people on board, including 42 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russian citizens, 6 Kazakh citizens and 3 Kyrgyz citizens.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, the bodies of seven victims have been identified, including six Kazakh citizens and three crew members. All the bodies were taken to the forensic centre. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the aircraft’s structures are being dismantled.

Meanwhile, law enforcement and investigative agencies continue to investigate the causes of the crash.
