Ukraine is actively working to end the war in 2025, mobilising support from international partners. During a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defence in the Ramstein format on 9 January, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the importance of France’s initiative to deploy Western military contingents in our country.
“We all understand that today Putin’s goals remain unchanged. He seeks the complete destruction of Ukraine. Therefore, we must find the most effective tools to force Russia to peace. The deployment of troops from our partners can become one of such tools,” the President noted.
Zelenskyy also called on allies to take practical action. According to him, the support of this initiative, in particular from France and the United Kingdom, is key to the common goal of ensuring peace.
“We must be brave and offer strong mechanisms to achieve peace. Ukraine is doing everything possible to ensure that the war ends with dignity for our country and the entire free world this year,” the Head of State added.
The President also stressed that the end of the war is the goal of Ukraine, Europe, the United States and their partners, but not Russia. “Ukrainians, Europeans, Americans – we all want peace. This is our common goal, and we know that we can count on your support,” Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine continues to seek effective ways to force Russia to end the war and strengthen the country’s defence capabilities. The proposed initiatives, including the participation of Western military contingents, are a signal of the international community’s determination to support Ukraine at this crucial time.
