Ukrainian troops are holding their positions in Kurakhove, Donetsk region, despite active fighting in the area. Russian troops failed to fully capture Kurakhove.

Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops, commented on the situation in Kurakhove on Suspilne TV:

• Ukrainian positions are held:
  • “Ukrainian positions are maintained, in particular, on the territory of the thermal power plant, which is part of the town. This excludes the claim of full occupation of Kurakhove.”
• Refutation of Deep State analysts’ claims:
  • They reported that Russians had captured the city and advanced in the areas of Andriivka, Solone and Novosilka.
• Scale of damage:
  • According to Tregubov, most of Kurakhove has been “reduced to rubble”, which underscores the extent of the destruction in the town.

The value of TPP

The territory of the thermal power plant (TPP) is a strategically important facility in the city, which remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, making it difficult for Russian troops to occupy the city.

Kurakhove remains the epicentre of intense fighting, but Ukrainian forces maintain control over parts of the town, including important facilities. Claims of full occupation are premature and unreliable.
