NVIDIA, known for its innovations in the production of chips for artificial intelligence, has announced plans to build a large data centre in Israel. The new data centre will occupy an area of 10,000 square metres and will have a capacity of 30 megawatts, Newsru.co.il reports.
Construction is scheduled for the first half of 2025 and the centre will be equipped with NVIDIA’s advanced Blackwell chips, which are among the fastest AI processors on the market. The centre will also use network switches developed in Israel, highlighting the contribution of local developers to NVIDIA’s global projects.
This move by NVIDIA is a response to the growing demand for high-intensity data processing and is aimed at supporting the company’s Israeli teams, which will develop hardware and software solutions for a variety of applications, including communications, data processing and artificial intelligence.
The announcement of the new data centre came shortly after the White House imposed restrictions on the export of US AI chips, including to Israel, which sparked additional interest in local production and technology development.
It should be noted that NVIDIA has already made a significant contribution to Israel’s technological development, having created the Israel-1 supercomputer in 2023, which is one of the thirty-four fastest in the world. The new data centre will strengthen the company’s position in the Israeli market and contribute to the further development of the high-tech industry in the region.
