Russian occupation forces captured three settlements in Donetsk region and made advances near several other villages. These events became known on the night of Friday, 17 January, thanks to a report from the DeepState analytical project.
According to the report, Russian troops took control of Pishchane, Slovianka and Yasenove. The report also noted the activity of enemy forces in the settlements of Novoandriivka, Dachne, Kotlyne, Zvirove, Vremivka and Chasovyi Yar. These actions are part of a broader offensive in the eastern territories of Ukraine.
DeepState analysts emphasise that such actions by Russia exacerbate tensions in the region and endanger the lives of civilians. In addition, there is an increased risk of a humanitarian crisis as a result of the hostilities.
The international community and human rights organisations express deep concern over the situation, calling for an immediate ceasefire and respect for international law by the Russian Federation. They also call for the resumption of peace talks to resolve the conflict.
