Israel and Hamas have reached a historic agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages following talks in Doha. This was announced by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Prime Minister has called a meeting of the security cabinet to discuss the details of the deal, the office said. A full government meeting is scheduled for Saturday evening. The deputy prime minister clarified that the postponement is due to the fact that some members of the government who are religious will not be able to perform official duties on Saturday, which will give them 24 hours to file petitions with the Supreme Court if they deem it necessary.
The agreement is expected to result in the release of all hostages held by the parties to the conflict. The authorities have already begun preparations for their reception and reintegration after their release.
The agreement is considered a significant step towards reducing tensions in the region and is hoped to bring peace and stability to the Middle East.
