Large-scale fighting near Pokrovsk: Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled almost 100 attacks in 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, 199 combat engagements were recorded on the frontline, almost half of which took place in the Pokrovsk sector, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported in a morning update on 19 January.

Enemy attacks and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ response

Russian troops conducted five missile and 25 air strikes, using seven missiles and 37 guided aerial bombs. About 5,000 attacks were made, including 117 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). The enemy used 2,420 kamikaze drones.

In response, the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck at eight areas where enemy manpower, equipment and weapons were concentrated. They also destroyed two air defence stations, one control centre, one fuel and lubricants depot, one electronic warfare station and six other important targets.

Key areas of fighting

  • Pokrovske direction: The fiercest fighting was recorded here – Ukrainian troops stopped 98 enemy attacks in the direction of 18 localities, including Vodiane Druha, Pokrovsk, Malynivka and Uspenivka.
  • Toretsk sector: 20 attacks were repelled near Toretsk, Krymske and Shcherbynivka.
  • Kramatorsk sector: 11 attacks in the areas of Stupochky, Predtechyne and Chasovyi Yar.
  • Novopavlivka sector: 19 enemy attacks, especially active fighting near Velyka Novosilka.
  • Other areas: Fighting also continued in the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Lyman, Siversk, Orikhivsk, Prydniprovsky and Kursk sectors.
