President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The main topic of the conversation was ways to achieve a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine, the Ukrainian leader’s press service reported on 22 January.
Key issues
During the meeting, the presidents discussed common challenges facing both countries and agreed on areas of further cooperation, particularly in the security sector.
“The Presidents of Ukraine and Israel stressed the need to strengthen partnership and cooperation to achieve peace and stability,” the statement said.
Release of hostages
The issue of the recent release of Israeli hostages was raised separately. Zelenskyy expressed support for Israel in its efforts to ensure security in the Middle East and stressed the importance of stability in the global context.
The meeting underlined the importance of the Ukrainian-Israeli dialogue in the face of a difficult geopolitical situation.
