The court ruled on a 16-year-old suspect involved in a case of torture and extortion of a 12-year-old girl. The minor was sent to custody for two months without the right to be released on bail.
This was reported by the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing the press service of the Kyiv regional police.
Chronology of the crime
The incident took place in the city of Bila Tserkva, where a group of teenagers were abusing a child. A 16-year-old boy, identified by police as one of the main suspects, is suspected of physically abusing the girl, accompanied by extortion.
Law enforcement officials said that the investigation is ongoing under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- ч. 4 Art. 189 – extortion committed with the threat of violence;
- ч. 1 Art. 127 – torture.
Court decision
Given the gravity of the offence and the risk of pressure on witnesses or the victim, the court decided to impose a strict measure of restraint – detention without the possibility of bail.
Impact on society
This case caused a wide public outcry. Many citizens called for tougher measures to combat violence among minors. Law enforcement officials promise a thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators receive fair punishment.
This story once again reminds us of the need to foster a culture of non-violence among young people, as well as the importance of early detection of problematic behaviour in adolescents.
