Russian troops intensified their offensive in the area of Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region. Enemy assault groups, supported by artillery and drones, fired nearly 80 times at Ukrainian positions.

According to the Khortytsia Joint Strategic Forces Grouping (JSFG), despite intense attacks, the Defence Forces continue to hold the line, inflicting significant losses on the Russians.

“The enemy’s losses are too high,” the military command noted.

Ukrainian Armed Forces counterattack

Also in the Novopavlivka sector, Russian troops attempted to attack in the area of Zelenivka with the support of armoured vehicles. Thanks to the timely detection of the enemy column, Ukrainian soldiers inflicted fire on it, after which the remnants of the Russian group were forced to return to their original positions.

Velyka Novosilka on the front line

Velyka Novosilka, located in the Donetsk region, remains one of the key points on the frontline. Russian troops have repeatedly attempted to capture the settlement, but all of their attempts have failed.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian defenders reported Russian attempts to break through Ukrainian defences on the outskirts of Velyka Novosilka. Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia military unit, said that the situation in the village was difficult, although it was not a complete encirclement.

The actions of Ukrainian soldiers are aimed at maintaining defensive positions, preventing breakthroughs and inflicting maximum possible losses on the enemy.

Velyka Novosilka has been on the frontline since 2022. At that time, Russian troops tried to capture the settlement, but Ukrainian defenders repelled the attack.

Currently, the military leadership emphasises the readiness of the Armed Forces to continue defence and prevent the enemy from breaking through.
