The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak , has announced an initiative to set the price of Russian oil at $30 per barrel. This, in his opinion, will not only reduce Russia’s financial capacity to wage war, but also strengthen global security.

“A tough price cap and further reduction of the price of a barrel of Russian oil is the way to global security. Our sanctions group proposes to fix the price at $30,” Yermak wrote on his Telegram channel.

Collapse of war funding and support for Trump

Yermak stressed that a decline in the price of Russian oil would directly affect Russia’s ability to finance military operations in Ukraine. He also noted that Ukraine supports US President Donald Trump in his efforts to reduce oil prices, as this should be a powerful blow to the financial basis of the Kremlin’s aggression.

It is known that in December 2022, the EU and the G7 countries have already set a price ceiling for Russian oil at $60 per barrel, but Ukraine is proposing a much more aggressive approach to this issue.
