On the night of 26 January, Russian troops launched a massive air attack on Ukraine, launching 72 Shahed attack drones and various types of imitation drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack was carried out from the territory of Russia from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Ukrainian defence forces demonstrated high efficiency, destroying 50 attack drones. The neutralisation operations took place in several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Donetsk, Dnipro and Khmelnytskyi regions. Nine enemy simulation drones were lost without any negative consequences. As of this morning, one enemy drone remained in the air, and efforts to destroy it are ongoing.
The air attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups. Thanks to professional coordination, the damage that could have been caused by enemy aircraft was minimised, saving critical infrastructure and civilians from significant damage.
