A special unit of the Israeli Border Police, together with the Shabak security service, conducted an operation in the city of Kafr Aqab, north of Jerusalem. As a result, 12 people suspected of supporting terrorist activities were detained, Newsru.co.il reports.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized extremist materials and money that, according to preliminary data, could have been intended for terrorist financing.
The operation was carried out after a celebration was held in Kafr Aqaba to mark the release of a local resident released as part of a prisoner swap deal with Hamas.
The detainees will be brought to court today, where the issue of extending their detention will be considered.
In addition, the press service of the Israeli Defence Forces(IDF) reported another operation in Ar Ramah, on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
