The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has launched licensed production of modern FPV drones at a state-owned enterprise. From now on, the drones developed by the private company will be manufactured under an official trilateral agreement, which will significantly increase production capacity and improve product quality.
According to Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, First Deputy Minister of Defence, the state has been able to integrate deeper into production processes, which will help to accurately calculate the cost of drones and provide competitive advantages. He stressed that thanks to a stable market of producers, the quality of drones will improve and their supply to the frontline will become more predictable.
The project was launched in December 2023 under the coordination of the Defence Innovation Directorate of the Ministry of Defence. As part of this initiative, the state was able to produce standardised FPV drones that meet military requirements. An important step was the conclusion of an agreement with a private developer, which granted a licence to manufacture drones at the facilities of a state-owned enterprise.
Yurii Taraniuk, head of the Defence Innovation Directorate, said his team has already developed a step-by-step roadmap for setting up similar production facilities at other enterprises in cooperation with private companies. According to him, the agency is ready to expand cooperation with Ukrainian UAV developers and has a package of standard documents that simplify the launch of new production lines.
This initiative is an important step in strengthening the country’s defence capabilities and developing the domestic market for unmanned aerial systems. The in-house production of FPV drones will provide the army with high-quality equipment, reduce dependence on imports and increase the efficiency of deliveries.
