On the night of 29 January, units of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), in cooperation with other components of the Defence Forces, struck at the Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia). This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, a large-scale fire broke out at the facility as a result of the attack. The plant, which belongs to Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez, is the fourth largest in Russia and plays an important role in supplying fuel to the Russian occupation forces. The extent of the damage is currently being determined.
The General Staff stressed that Ukrainian forces will continue to destroy strategic facilities that contribute to the war against Ukraine.
Earlier, footage of a massive fire in Kstovo appeared on social media. Local authorities acknowledged the incident, saying that the drone’s wreckage fell on the territory of one of the industrial zone’s enterprises.
