The Swedish government has presented the largest ever package of military assistance to Ukraine, estimated at SEK 13.5 billion. This package will be an important step in strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities, especially in the context of long-range weapons and drones. Sweden plans to allocate about SEK 1 billion to support the production of long-range missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine. In addition, the package includes doubling the previous volume of CB 90 combat boats and anti-tank weapons, as well as support for the Ukrainian defence industry, Time Ukraine Israel reports, citing the Swedish government’s website.
This package was the eighteenth since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and as a result, Sweden has already provided military assistance to Ukraine totalling SEK 61.9 billion.
Key components of the support package
The new support package includes various components aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities:
- Procurement of military equipment worth SEK 5.9 billion: Sweden is purchasing equipment from its own defence companies and international partners to be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
- Financial donations of SEK 2.8 billion: These funds will be used to support Ukrainian procurement through various funds and coalitions of opportunity, including missile and drone production.

- Education and training initiatives worth SEK 650 million: Includes support for training programmes for the Ukrainian military, including basic training through the Interflex initiative.
