Last night, at the prestigious Grammy 2025 music awards ceremony, Beyoncé won the Album of the Year award for the first time in her career for her groundbreaking country album Cowboy Carter. This was a historic moment for the singer, who already has the most Grammy awards of any artist – 35, Reuters reports.

“I am overwhelmed with emotion and pride. It’s been a long journey,” Beyoncé said when receiving the award. She also won the Best Country Album category and was presented with the award by Taylor Swift.

Kendrick Lamar’s triumph and Chappell Roan’s breakthrough

In addition to Beyoncé, rapper Kendrick Lamar won two major awards at once – for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his track “Not Like Us”, which was the result of his musical confrontation with Canadian artist Drake.

This year’s Best New Artist title went to Chappell Roan, who used her moment on stage to address the industry with a demand for fair wages and health insurance for musicians. She shared a personal story about the difficulties she faced due to the lack of insurance.
