In the first month of 2025, the Russian army lost 48,240 soldiers. This is more than in any other month of the war, with the exception of December 2024, when Russia’s irrecoverable losses amounted to 48,670 people. This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on Monday, 3 February.

In addition to personnel, Ukrainian defenders destroyed a significant amount of enemy equipment:

  • 230 tanks (equivalent to almost seven tank battalions);
  • 573 armoured vehicles (the equivalent of three motorised infantry divisions);
  • 963 artillery systems (equivalent to 50 artillery divisions).

The General Staff also reported that 5,087 combat engagements were recorded in January. Enemy aircraft were actively using guided aerial bombs, dropping over 2,400 munitions on Ukrainian troop positions and frontline settlements.

Fighting on the frontline remains intense, but the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy, reducing its offensive potential.
