Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on the town of Izium, hitting an administrative building. Another administrative building and several multi-storey residential buildings were damaged nearby. Five people were killed in the attack, and the number of wounded increased to 24.
This was announced by the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleg Sinegubov on Telegram on Tuesday, 4 February.
“Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to five. Rescuers have unblocked another body. The person is being identified,” noted Syniehubov.
Earlier, four people were known to have died – two women and two men. Their identities are still being established.
There are currently 24 injured people in hospitals in Izium. Among them is a 15-year-old girl who sustained shrapnel wounds. Her condition is assessed as moderate. Three of the injured are in surgery.
Rescuers and emergency services are working at the site of the tragedy. The Ukrainian military is in control of the situation in the region, and the Ukrainian Air Force continues to record the activity of enemy missile forces.
