The plan to rebuild Gaza announced by US President Donald Trump has caused a wave of mixed reactions. Despite the support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some Israeli politicians, it has been harshly criticised by Arab states, international leaders and ordinary citizens, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Trump’s concept has received a wide media response, becoming a major topic of political discussion and social media. Some call it “crazy” and “impossible”, while others believe it could change history.
Critics point out that the US president is making a strategic mistake by trying to control the process of rebuilding Gaza instead of allowing the local population to determine their own future. At the same time, some analysts point to the potential of the programme if local experts are involved in its implementation.
Amidst the geopolitical debate, Israel continues to celebrate its heroes. This week, Jerusalem hosted an award ceremony for “Heroes of Israeli Society”, where special attention was paid to the efforts of the families of hostages fighting for their release.
In addition, Israel is working to improve conditions for people with disabilities. The Yad Sarah organisation recently organised a trip for wheelchair users to the sites of the 7 October tragedies, allowing them to personally pay their respects.
At the same time, society’s attention is focused on upcoming events: Tu b’Shvat, preparations for Purim, and even Easter, around which creative publications are already appearing that combine traditional texts with modern cultural realities.
