The Ukrainian armed forces continue active operations in the Kursk region of Russia. During a new series of assaults, Ukrainian fighters advanced to five kilometres southeast of Suzha, entering new settlements.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), geolocation footage shows recent Ukrainian military advances southwest of Makhnovka, as well as north and east of Cherkaska Konopelka. Ukrainian units have established themselves in Kolmakiv and Fanaseevka, strengthening their positions in the region.
In an attempt to deter the Ukrainian breakthrough, Russia is deploying about 78,000 troops to the Kursk region, including 11,000 DPRK soldiers, as well as units of the Russian Airborne Forces and Marines. However, despite these reserves, the enemy fails to stop the advance of Ukrainian forces.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operation in this area is part of an overall strategy of pressure on the southern flank of the Russian occupation forces, forcing the Kremlin to deploy additional reserves, weakening defences in other parts of the front.
