US President Donald Trump said he had instructed renowned businessman Elon Musk to investigate Pentagon spending and the country’s education system. This was reported by the American TV channel CNN.
“The Pentagon, education, pretty much everything. We’re going to go through all of it. I’ve instructed him (Musk – ed.) to check education, to check the Pentagon, which is a military department,” Trump said. He also noted that the audit could reveal numerous cases of fraud and embezzlement.
Asked by journalists whether there are any restrictions for Musk, the president said that no specific warnings were discussed, but he himself determines the areas in which the businessman should operate.
“I pick a target and tell Musk and his team to go after it,” Trump said.
According to him, the audit already shows significant abuses and corruption schemes in various government institutions. Trump is convinced that such audits will help eliminate inefficient use of funds and improve the functioning of key areas of government.
