The Ukrainian military continues its strategic campaign to destroy logistics chains and military facilities in Russia’s deep rear. According to the Ministry of Defence, in 2025, the key task will be to create precision-guided weapons capable of destroying enemy targets at maximum range.
The strategy of destroying the enemy’s rear
“Destruction of logistics routes, ammunition depots and military equipment bases are the main priorities of the Ukrainian army. The use of missile weapons, barrage bombs and deep strikes significantly reduces the military potential of the Russian Federation,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
In addition to its offensive capabilities, Ukraine is actively working to strengthen its defence. To reduce the threat of enemy missile and drone attacks, a powerful missile defence system is being developed that will combine domestic and foreign technologies.
Results and plans for 2025
In 2024, Ukraine made important progress in the defence sector:
- Serial production of cruise missiles was expanded.
- New models of ballistic and cruise missiles with an extended range were tested.
- Joint production of anti-aircraft missile systems with international partners has been established.
Priority areas for 2025 include:
- Development of ballistic and cruise missiles as a deterrent to Russia.
- Expanding missile defence components to protect cities from missile attacks.
- Creation of a Ukrainian missile defence system that will meet the world’s best analogues.
- Improving control systems for air defence systems, which will increase the effectiveness of air defence.
Ukraine is also negotiating with international partners to supply advanced air defence systems. In addition, the latest Ukrainian anti-missile systems are being developed together with Western companies.
