A plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada did not take place on Friday, 14 February, due to the blocking of the presidium and the government box by MPs from the European Solidarity faction. The MPs continue to protest against the possible imposition of sanctions against their leader, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced the disruption of the meeting on his Telegram channel.

“Which was exactly what I needed to prove. The government box is blocked, the presidium is also blocked… That’s it. The day ended without a meeting,” he said.

Traditionally, the Friday plenary session includes an hour of questions to the government and speeches by ministers. However, due to the actions of European Solidarity, the work of the parliament was effectively paralysed.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko’s faction said it would continue to put pressure on the authorities, demanding that they lift possible sanctions against their leader.
