US President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk demonstrated a strong alliance in a recent interview with Fox News, dismissing allegations of potential conflicts of interest. They accused the critical media of trying to divide them and declared their support for each other, according to The Guardian and BBC.
Warm words and political support
During the interview, Musk said: “I love the president, I just want to make that clear.” Trump responded that Musk is “a man who gets things done” and praised him for creating real innovation.
Conflict of interest? Trump’s response
One of the central questions was the possible clash between Musk’s business interests and his new position in the government. The US President appointed Musk to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reduce government spending.
When asked about possible conflicts of interest, Trump said: “If there is a conflict, we will not allow it.” Musk also assured that he had “never asked the president for anything” and was ready to “recuse himself” from relevant decisions if necessary.
Musk supports Trump financially
Musk, who used to vote for Democrats, changed his position during the last election, openly supporting Trump. It is known that he donated $75 million to the president’s campaign through a political action committee (PAC) that finances the Republican’s election initiatives.
The appointment of Musk to a public office has sparked outrage among critics who accuse the Trump administration of favouring corporate interests. Opponents called the situation “the height of corporate corruption”.
Nevertheless, Trump and Musk continue to demonstrate unity, which can have a significant impact on the US economic and political strategy.
